In honour to Afghan women
To honour International Women's Day, I am releasing a reportage I made in Kabul, in February 2004.
The eyes of the world were on the post war Afghanistan, on the path to the first democratic election. The United Nations-supervised voters' registration was taking place.
In the streets, lines of people queuing to enter the registrations sites, Being a woman, I was allowed to enter a women site and connect with the women when they removed the burqua.
Their emotion looking at their fist ever photo and a registration card.
Over 10.5 million Afghans registered during the large scale registration program. Almost 42 per cent of these voters were women - a remarkable figure given the harsh restrictions they suffered under the Taliban.
