As the cold Dutch winter slowly gives way to summer, I’m reminded of warm days in Italy, where figs ripen under the sun. They bring back memories of slow afternoons in a friend’s garden—laughter, good company, and the simple pleasure of picking fruit straight from the tree.
Figs always signal the end of August, a time when summer lingers just a little longer, inviting us to savor every last bit of its sweetness.
